The modern tendencies of international crime demand by the expert a wider mentality in approaching the forensic investigation. In cases of Forensic Document Examination we have to apply an amplified vision of enquiry, beyond the limits of restricted handwriting analysis of the suspected documents. Severe external factors connected to the historical data of the case, which should orientate the investigative procedure, could mislead the expert, if they are not known or seriously taken into consideration. A correct conclusion of the expert’s report could only derive from the conception of the complete frame of particularities of the case under investigation in an amplified and holistic vision of both forensic and historical facts, so as to reveal the real frequency of the criminal behavior. Cross examination between documents and forensic findings is the only possible way in order to indicate the sequence of historical facts, which otherwise could not reveal the real dimension of the crime committed.
