Reasons of Emotional Conditions of Police Officers in Conflict Situations

The object of investigation is to analyse the reasons and the ways of solution of conflicts between a person d a police officer. 120 first-year students (60 girls and 60 boys) from Mykolas Romeris University Kaunas faculty of Police took part in the research. In 2003-2004 school year they had 4 months teaching practice in specialised police units. On the basis of the research results it was established that the research participants most often felt anxiety (73%), anger (43%), fear (13%), and rage (11%). The majority of the respondents noted that they felt anxiety at the beginning of the conflict, and many of them assigned that condition to the lack of job experience. Anger arouse when the perpetrator did not obey the officer’s demands or insulted the officer in words and actions.
