Submission note: A thesis submitted in total fulfilment, of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy to the School of Humanities, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, La Trobe University, Bundoora.This thesis is a combination of novel and exegesis, united by an interest in assisted reproductive technology (ART). It looks at the ways in which this technology— sperm, egg and embryo donation, in vitro fertilisation—is changing the nature of family, and the role story is playing to help society process and make sense of these changes.
