Cancer is still one of the most feared disease. The communication of diagnosis and the subsequent treatment process are very psychologically demanding for the patient. The aim of the bachelor thesis was to look at this difficult life situation and to map, describe and analyze the ways in which it can be coped. The theoretical part of the thesis describes cancer, the process of coping with an unfavourable diagnosis, sources of support for cancer patients and conditions of personal growth. The practical part uses the design of qualitative research. In-depth interviews are used to find out the experiences of people who have overcome cancer.
