Amatrya Sen - and New Economic Thought of Our Time

The thesis is dealing with a complex content of tasks and work created by Amartya Kumar Sen, Indian economist, holder of the Nobel prize in 1998. In the first part, his personal, professional life and career is outlined. This should be an attempt to introduce into significant approach, essential concepts of his work in particular publications, that are fundamental for this recognition. Each publication has been selected according to the contribution to the global issues. At the same time figures cooperating or influencing and bacis economic theories specific for his work are being presented. Second part is devoted to the questions of poverty, famines and equality in the world, which is influenced by the economical behaviour. The purpose it to draw attention to importace and to inform about the status typical for this period. The section of the thesis are translations of English text as well. The reason for the publication is the lack of transalted works into Czech and to refer to critical thinking of Amartya Sen and his connection with democracy and human values
