The thesis work presented in this manuscript is about the experimental development of a hybrid cold atom inertial unit. Such an instrument would improve the performances of embeddable inertial measurement units, composed of classical inertial sensors suffering from a bias drift leading to positioning errors after a few hours of navigation. The goals of this thesis are to address two blocking points that prevent today the construction of an embedded atom inertial measurement unit: the horizontal acceleration measurement by atom interferometry, and the limited dynamic range of atomic sensors in terms of rotations.
