Konflik dan Gerakan Moderasi Beragama Di Indonesia

This research describes the conflict and religious moderation movement map in two provinces, North Sumatra and North Sulawesi. The background of this study is that the patterns and factors that trigger conflict in the two provinces have a population with a majority of different religions. Likewise, it is not known how religious moderation in the two districts was popularized as a social movement or only as a top-down program or project. The study location is in Medan city, the capital city of North Sumatra, and Manado city as the capital city of North Sulawesi. The research subject is the government representative, representative of religious scholars, leaders of religious leader associations, interfaith practitioners, and lecturer. This research uses a qualitative method by using a comparative analysis approach. The theories of conflict, social construction, and social movement lead the conceptual framework. This study finds that Either North Sumatra or North Sulawesi have disputes involving inter-religious communities, where the root of the conflict is not always religion. Still, religion is used as a tool for framing society. The conflict resolution between the two provinces uses top-down key and minority adaptation. There are differences in the historical understanding of the dynamics of inter-religious relations in the two provinces. North Sumatra is forming stages of the religious moderation movement based on theological knowledge memory, while North Sulawesi uses a powerful cultural approach.
