This thesis is focused on the investigation of the impact of various lattice defects, i.e., screw dislocations, anti-phase boundaries, twinning boundaries, and vacuum gaps, on the thermal conductivity of nanowires by molecular dynamic simulations and Green's function calculations. We firstly calculated the thermal conductivity of Si nanowires with a screw dislocation in the center through non-equilibrium molecular dynamics.We find that with the inclusion of a dislocation, the phonon-phonon scattering rate is enhanced dramatically due to the dislocation-induced strain field.
