International audienceBACKGROUND: The present study aims at identifying the risk factors for ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) in patients with severe brain injury (SBI). METHODS: In this multicentre, retrospective, observational study, patients ≥ 18 year old who had SBI (Glasgow coma scale GCS score < 9) who received mechanical ventilation for at least 48 h were analysed. The main objective was to identify risk factors for S. aureus VAP vs VAP due to other pathogens and to identify risk factors for S. aureus VAP vs patients who did not experience VAP.
