Technology, cutting tools, and cutting conditions can have an impact on the physical and mechanical properties of the entire implant and its longevity. This paper shows an effective and competitive technology for acquiring high-quality insert shape, dimensions, and surface, needed especially for customized implants.Moderní ortopedické implantáty pro aplikace v oblasti kyčlí, kolen, ramen a páteře se skládají ze slitin kovů nebo keramiky a obsahují dále tribologické vložky, která jsou vyrobeny z měkkých materiálů s dobrými třecími vlastnostmi – např. UHMWPE (polyetylén s ultra vysokou molekulovou hmotností). Implantáty UHMWPE je třeba po polymeraci opracovat do konečného tvaru implantátu blízkého tvaru kloubu. Obrábění je tedy klíčovou technologií, která dokáže vytvořit přesný a přesný tvar implantátu, který by měl odpovídat funkce kloubů.
