Abstract: Pandit Brij Mohan Dataturya Kaifi (December 13, 1866–November 1, 1955) was a neglected philologist of the twentieth century who has written three important books on Urdu philology named Manshoorat, Khamsa-i-Kaifi and Kaifiya. Manshoorat deals with the discussion on Urdu philology, eloquence and rhetoric, Urdu and Lucknau, and Urdu and Punjab.While Khamsa-i-Kaifi reflects the Urdu language in its historical context along with the debates on Hindu-Muslim cultural relationship. Kaifiya covers the debates about the brief history of Urdu language, transcript, morphology, abandoned words and stylistics.
