Abstract: Pandit Brij Mohan Dataturya Kaifi (December 13, 1866–November 1, 1955) was a neglected philologist of the twentieth century who has written three important books on Urdu philology named Manshoorat, Khamsa-i-Kaifi and Kaifiya. Manshoorat deals with the discussion on Urdu philology, eloquence and rhetoric, Urdu and Lucknau, and Urdu and Punjab.While Khamsa-i-Kaifi reflects the Urdu language in its historical context along with the debates on Hindu-Muslim cultural relationship. Kaifiya covers the debates about the brief history of Urdu language, transcript, morphology, abandoned words and stylistics. Urdu is an Aryan language which came into existence through Hindu-Muslim cultural and social interaction, according to Pandit Kaifi.
