بازتاب پراکندگی بیماری تب نوبه (مالاریا) در سفرنامه‌ها و خاطرات عصر قاجار

Background and Aim: Malaria is an infectious disease caused by the bite of Anopheles mosquitoes. This disease was common throughout the Qajar era in the country. Malaria has been persistent in some areas and sometimes the spread of its malignant form led to mass deaths. The aim of this study is to investigate the causes of its prevalence in Iran at that time. Methods: This research is written in descriptive and analytical method. By referring to libraries and reviewing historical sources (especially travelogues and memoirs) data related to the spread of malaria in Qajarian Iran and common causes and treatment methods of this disease have been collected and noted and then sorted, analyzed and processed. Ethical Considerations: In this research while referring to texts and sources, honesty and trustworthiness have been taken into consideration. Results: The results of this study showed that malaria was widely distributed in the country and both nature and humans have played a role in its spread. Swampy areas and improper use of water were the main reasons for the spread of this disease, but people unknowingly considered factors such as bedbug bites and planting crops such as rice and dates to be effective in its emergence. They resorted to traditional methods of treatment to deal with the disease and benefited from the availability of quince. Conclusion: In the high prevalence of malaria in the country, both natural factors and human behaviors such as lifestyle and economic activities, especially agriculture has been effective. Tārīkh-i pizishkī, i.e., Medical History. 2022; 14(47): e40.زمینه و هدف: مالاریا (Malaria) بیماری عفونی است که در اثر نیش پشه آنوفل ایجاد می‌گردد. این بیماری که به دلیل عارضه تب‌های متناوب تب نوبه نامیده می‌شد، در سراسر عصر قاجار در کشور شایع بود. مالاریا در برخی نقاط شیوع مداومی داشته و گاه نیز همه‌گیری نوع بدخیم آن در برحی نواحی موجب مرگ جمعی می‌گردید. هدف پژوهش حاضر بررسی علل شیوع فراوان این بیماری در ایران آن دوره است. روش: در این پژوهش که به روش توصیفی ـ تحلیلی نگارش یافته، با مراجعه به کتابخانه‌ها و بررسی منابع تاریخی و به ویژه سفرنامه‌ها و خاطرات داده‌های مرتبط با پراکندگی مالاریا در ایران عهد قاجار، عوامل شیوع و شیوه‌های متداول درمانی این بیماری جمع‌آوری و فیش‌برداری شده و سپس طبقه‌بندی و پالایش و تنظیم و تدوین گردیده است. ملاحظات اخلاقی: در این تحقیق در ارجاع‌دادن به متون و منابع، راستی و درستی سرلوحه کار قرار گرفته است. یافته‌ها: نتایج این پژوهش نشان داد که مالاریا در کشور پراکندگی زیادی داشته و طبیعت و انسان هر دو در گسترش آن نقش داشته‌اند. باتلاقی‌بودن مناطق و استفاده نادرست از آب‌ها دلیل اصلی شیوع این بیماری بوده، اما مردم از روی ناآگاهی عواملی چون نیش ساس و کاشت محصولاتی مثل برنج و خرما را مؤثر در پیدایش آن می‌دانستند. آن‌ها برای مقابله با بیماری به شیوه‌های سنتی درمان متوسل می‌شدند و در صورت دسترسی از گنه‌گنه (Quinine) سود می‌جستند. نتیجه‌گیری: در شیوع فراوان مالاریا در کشور هم عوامل طبیعی و هم عملکرد انسان‌ها مانند شیوه زندگی و فعالیت‌های اقتصادی و به ویژه کشاورزی تأثیرگذار بوده است. وجود مشکلات بهداشتی و فقدان خدمات درمانی و دارویی نیز موجب شده بود که مالاریا شایع‌ترین بیماری در ایران عصر قاجار گردد
