Antibiotic-resistant bacteria represent a serious threat to modern medicine and human life. Only a minority of antibacterial agents are active against Gram-negative bacteria. Hence, the development of novel antimicrobial agents will always be a vital need. In an effort to discover new therapeutics against Gram-negative bacteria, we previously reported a structure-activity-relationship (SAR) study on 1,2-disubstituted benzimidazole derivatives.
