Penggunaan Metode Kanguru Dan Bedong Kain Untuk Meningkatkan Suhu Bayi Baru Lahir Dan Mencegah Hipotermia

Background : Health problems in children are one of the main problems in the world of health in Indonesia. The degree of children's health describes the degree of health of the nation, because children are the next generation of the nation who have abilities that can be developed in the development of the nation. Newborns are babies born during the first hour of birth. Newborns are babies from birth to 4 weeks of age. Birth is usually at 38-42 weeks' gestation. Hypothermia is an abnormal body temperature of a newborn (<36°C) when measuring temperature through the axillae, where the body temperature of a normal newborn is 36.5°C-37.5°C (axillary temperature). Hypothermia is a sign of danger because it can cause changes in the body's metabolism which will end in heart-pulmonary failure and death. Management that can be done in hypothermic patients is to do the kangaroo method and swaddle with cloth in regulating the baby's body temperature.Purpose : To Know the Effectiveness of Using the Kangaroo Method and Cloth Swaddles to Warm and Increase the Body Temperature of Newborns for the Prevention of Hypothermia in PMB Kemiling Region.Methods: This quantitative research applied pre-experimental method with pretest posttest research design. The sample in this study was 30 infants, conducted by purposive sampling technique. This research found that there was an increase in the temperature of newborns after being given the kangaroo and cloth swaddling method. Based on the result of swaddling the cloth there was an increase of 82.50 and when the kangaroo method was used there was an increase of 68.89 with a p-value of 0.045.Results : It can be concluded that the use of the kangaroo method and cloth swaddling can increase body temperature in newborns and the use of cloth swaddles was more influential in increasing body temperature. Therefore, it is suggested that the results of this study can be applied by midwives to reduce hypothermia in newborns.
