In this paper we bring together three different perspectives on collaborative innovation: service design, ethnographically informed innovation, and participatory art practice. All three afford important insights into the opportunities and challenges of ‘changing the change’ for a more sustainable future. We focus on the dynamic and complex, ‘systemic’ nature of change and – against the backdrop of our individual practical experiences – explore how we might design on such shifting ground. In this process, we all seek to harness everyday creativity and DIY solutions to design with as well as for people.
