A patient with a traumatic extrarenal arteriovenous fistula underwent successful repair of the lesion. The reconstruction utilized a portion of renal vein to allow lateral repair of the renal artery. The patient\u27s postoperative course was complicated by paradoxical hypertension and severe abdominal pain like that in the post-coarctectomy syndrome. Satisfactory recovery has occurred and the patient remains normotensive
