The influence of low heating rates on recrystallization of Al–Mg alloys was investigated as a complement to the theory of recrystallization related to heating rates. Different from the recrystallization of Al–Mg alloy at high heating rates, the starting recrystallization temperature Ts at 5 °C/min was observed to be higher than that at 10–20 °C/min. Combined with previous studies, a three-stage evolution of Ts verse heating rates was first proposed. With the heating rate increasing, Ts decreases in the range of 5 °C/min to rc2, increases in the range of rc2 to rc, and finally decreases when heating rate is higher than rc.
