Este trabalho apresenta uma proposta de estudo sobre o tema de condicionamento de solos argilosos por meio de variações de alcalinidade e passagem de corrente elétricas pelo material argiloso, a fim de estudar o problema do clogging em escavações mecanizadas subterrâneas via Tuneladoras (Tunneling Boring Machines - TBMs) em modo Earth Pressure Balance (EPB). Este tema tem sido motivo de muitos estudos, pois, uma vez constatada sua ocorrência, os danos por ela causados envolvem: decréscimo nas taxas de avanço do TBM, acréscimo de manutenções e trocas de ferramentas de corte, além de aumentos significativos no tempo de exposição de operários sob-regime de trabalho hiperbárico.
