For quite some time now the Government of Antigua and Barbuda has been plagued with fiscal imbalances. The characteristic of the country’s small and open economy makes it vulnerable to adverse exogenous factors. These exogenous factors include external shocks such as the impact of the 2008 global financial crisis, increases in commodity and fuel prices and natural disasters which have affected the countries thriving tourism-based economy. This research project aims to examine the key issues and applying financial management principles to address the country’s adverse fiscal position over the medium and long-term.
