First World War through Kopiloff’s family archives. First World War and 1917 Revolution in Russia had a tremendous impact on Russia’s history and still influence the mentality of Russian society. Academic studies are concentrated mostly on political or military dimensions of these events. Russian historians have just recently started to pay more attention to personal war experience and personal perceptions of the war and revolution .
