International audienceThis paper extends and shifts the focus of research on Yellow Vests (Gilets jaunes [GJ]) to individuals who claim to be GJ in Belgium. Based on this borderline case, it analyses the conditions of a singularity: the triggering and the permanence of a transnational engagement in a national context of low-intensity mobilisation. It is based on a multi-methods fieldwork, using observations, online monitoring, focus groups and interviews. The paper identifies three forms of commitment: desperate, altruistic and declassified.
