The main aim of this paper is to follow the Contextualized Interactive Story Driven Development (CISD) Methodology to support the development of a serious game competence-based learning scenario in the domain of sustainable manufacturing. The paper describes the development of a serious game environment tailored for LCA application. The users are brought into a 3D virtual environment and have to perform tasks as a sustainability manager in a company. Within the scenario the core competence to be addressed is the “Ability to perform a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA)” in a globally acting manufacturing enterprise. The paper describes how and which competences and contents of the game scenario were developed
