The article examines the peculiarity of emotional intelligence and emotional burnout in substitute parents. Various approaches to the concept of emotional intelligence are described. Emotional burnout in substitute parents is considered, the main problems of substitute parents are highlighted. It is noted that it is in the family that the child gets the first life experience, makes observations and learns how to behave in certain situations. It is also determined that the connection of education with other types of activities, the subordination of education to one or another motive, as well as the place of education in a person's personality – all this gives each parent's upbringing an individual character.
