This thesis focuses on the study of the cognitive and neural mechanisms involved in emotional expressions discrimination through fast periodic visual stimulation (FPVS) combined with electroencephalographic recording (EEG). More specifically, three main questions are asked: Is there an influence of an emotional context (complex visual scenes with positive or negative content) on emotional face processing? (Study 1); What are the mechanisms involved in the detection of dynamic and brief emotional expression changes when faces are embedded in natural surroundings?
