The goal of this thesis is to investigate prosodic correlates of discourse markers according to their pragmatic functions observed in speech corpora. It examines six discourse markers in French (alors, bon, donc, enfin, quoi, voilà) and three markers in English (now, so, well). For this study, an annotation was carried out with class labels (marker or non marker), as well as pragmatic function labels for the occurrences identified as markers. The prosodic features considered are: position of the word in its intonational unit, presence of adjacent pauses to the word, and tonal articulation of the word with its immediate context.Results show that there is a correlation between prosodic features of the words studied and their class (marker or ...
