Heart failure (HF) is a major public health issue affecting between 1 to 2% of the general population. Patients with HF with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) represent approximately 50% of patients with HF and are often older, female, and frequently have hypertension. The high prevalence of these comorbidities suggests that they play a role in the development of the disease. There is currently no specific treatment for HFpEF, because its pathophysiology remains poorly understood and requires further investigations in order to find new therapeutic targets.
