Based on my various involvements in the educational landscape, this thesis presents an ethnographic analysis of situated utopias, defined as counter-spaces to institutional establishments (Foucault, 2009). Designed by artists and social activists, these heterotopias offer artistic and recreational practices for children at school, in museums and outdoor public spaces. At the intersection of formal, non-formal and informal education (Brougère & Bézille, 2007), these multi-situated field in France and Denmark, by contrast, offer insights into the point of view of children and the way in which it expresses itself.
