Sistematization of cultural practices of coconut cultivation (cocos nucifera) as a benchmark of autonomy and sustainable agriculture : the case of farmers in the municipality of Timbiqui, Department of Cauca

Identificar las experiencias de cultivo de acuerdo a sus tradiciones sociales, culturales, económicas y biológicas, conocer y analizar las prácticas de los territorios permite sistematizar las vivencias a partir de los aciertos y errores y documentar los conocimientos para promover mejores prácticas. El objetivo de este estudio es sistematizar las prácticas culturales del cultivo de coco como referente de autonomía territorial y agricultura sostenible en el Municipio de Timbiquí, Departamento del Cauca, con el propósito de analizar e interpretar las vivencias desde la lógica de los actores, documentando los conocimientos a través las prácticas agrícolas. La población objeto de estudio trabaja en la producción de coco en el municipio de Timbiquí, con los actores que voluntariamente participaron en el proyecto según los criterios establecidos. En el proceso metodológico se realizó un estudio cualitativo, descriptivo de tipo fenomenológico en que se detallan las relaciones existentes entre personas, sociedad, cultura y hechos a través de las prácticas culturales del cultivo de coco en su ambiente natural y su contexto. La selección de los participantes se realizó por muestreo no probabilístico, informantes claves; la información se adquirió a través de entrevistas semiestructuradas se trascribió, categorizó y analizó; en cuanto a los resultados el proceso de investigación arrojó la presencia de una serie de prácticas culturales asociadas al cultivo del coco en el municipio de Timbiquí, y se concluye que la práctica del cultivo del coco en este territorio tienen elementos de agricultura sostenible a partir de las técnicas y actividades culturales desarrolladas. También los elementos encontrados en la investigación que se alinean con la revisión documental nos indican elementos de autonomía y agricultura sostenible. Las palabras de Etlers (1994) confirman que “la sustentabilidad de la agricultura y de los recursos naturales se refiere al uso de recursos biofísicos, económicos y sociales según su capacidad, en un espacio geográfico, para mediante tecnologías biofísicas, económicas, sociales e institucionales obtener bienes y servicios directos e indirectos de la agricultura y de los recursos naturales para satisfacer las necesidades de las generaciones presentes y futuras”. La autonomía territorial está marcada por las actividades desarrolladas a través de la sostenibilidad de los recursos naturales, el auto sustento por medio de trueques, el bienestar, las prácticas culturales con la luna y las menguantes, las formas de siembra y la organización de la comunidad. Escobar 2016 plantea que la autonomía territorial, es la creación de las condiciones que permitan el cambio de las normas sociales y culturales desde dentro o la capacidad de cambiar las tradiciones tradicionalmente. El documento discute y plantea la agricultura sostenible y la autonomía territorial en las prácticas culturales del cultivo del coco en el Municipio de Timbiqui Cauca. Los elementos planteados abren una discusión que pueden ser el camino a las formas de producir en diferentes territorios desde lo cultural y lo ambiental. The objective of this study is to systematize the cultural practices of coconut cultivation as a benchmark for territorial autonomy and sustainable agriculture in the Municipality of Timbiquí, Department of Cauca, with the purpose of analyzing and interpreting the experiences from the logic of the actors, documenting the knowledge through agricultural practices. The population under study works in coconut production in the municipality of Timbiquí, with the actors who voluntarily participated in the project according to the established criteria. In the methodological process, a qualitative, descriptive phenomenological study was carried out detailing the existing relationships between people, society, culture and facts through the cultural practices of coconut cultivation in its natural environment and its context. The selection of the participants was carried out by non-probabilistic sampling, key informants; the information was acquired through semi-structured interviews, it was transcribed, categorized and analyzed; Regarding the results, the research process showed the presence of a series of cultural practices associated with coconut cultivation in the municipality of Timbiquí, and it is concluded that the practice of coconut cultivation in this territory has elements of sustainable agriculture from the techniques and cultural activities developed. Also, the elements found in the research that are aligned with the documentary review indicate elements of autonomy and sustainable agriculture. The words of Etlers (1994) confirm that "the sustainability of agriculture and natural resources refers to the use of biophysical, economic and social resources according to their capacity, in a geographical space, through biophysical, economic, social and institutional technologies. obtain direct and indirect goods and services from agriculture and natural resources to meet the needs of present and future generations”. Territorial autonomy is marked by the activities developed through the sustainability of natural resources, self-sustenance through barter, well-being, cultural practices with the moon and the waning, the forms of planting and the organization of the community. Escobar 2016 states that territorial autonomy is the creation of conditions that allow the change of social and cultural norms from within or the ability to change traditions traditionally. The document discusses and proposes sustainable agriculture and territorial autonomy in the cultural practices of coconut cultivation in the Municipality of Timbiqui Cauca.
