In this work, we experimentally investigate the wave chaotic nature of the vibrating intrinsic reverberation chamber (VIRC).The measured normalized field intensity is confronted against different known probabilistic models in RCs, both traditional (e.g. the \chi _22 distribution) and the distributions from wave chaos theory. A discussion on some limitations of applying the state-of-the-art chaotic models is introduced, in particular on the appropriate estimation of the modal overlap
