Displacement Based Design (DBD) is becoming a widely used tool for the design and analysis of new and existing structures subject to seismic forces. Inherent with the DBD approach, however, are several limitations, linked e.g. to the simplified representation of the dynamic phenomena it relies on, and to its disregarding damage accumulation.
