The topic of this paper is the analysis and identification of an accurate model for electrorheological (ER) semi-active dampers designed specifically for hyper-sport motorcycles. The ER-damper is viewed as a dynamic system, where the inputs are the stroke (and its derivatives) and the requested damping force (the command). The output is the delivered force. The purpose of this paper is to present a full characterization: first the damping characteristics in the speed-force domain are shown; then the analysis of the switching times are assessed; finally the black box identification and related results are presented
