The railgun is a promising weapon, but suffers from poor contact and harsh magnetic field environment. We used the moment of inertia to measure the deformation resistance of the rail, studied the contact characteristics of the railgun by contact force, and compared the performances of different structures of the rail. The magnetic field environment in the bore and the thrust on the armature of different structure railguns were studied by FEM-BEM simulation, and the final structure of the hyperbolic augmented quadrupole railgun was determined. The new structure of the railgun possesses better deformation resistance and contact characteristics, and can provide an electromagnetic shielding area and greater thrust. The test results show that th...
