Better mechanisms of predicting prognoses in patients with metastatic breast cancer will improve the identification of patients for whom curative treatments may be the most effective. In this study, the prognostic value of 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (18F-FDG PET/CT) was assessed in patients with metastatic breast cancer. A retrospective analysis of women who underwent 18F-FDG PET/CT for staging of newly diagnosed metastatic breast cancer was conducted. In each patient, the maximum standardized uptake value (SUV) and total lesion glycolysis (TLG) of primary tumors and regional lymph nodes were measured and analyzed for association with survival using the Cox proportional hazards regression model. ...
