Objectives: The relationship between age-related diseases and chronic inflammation associated with aging has recently been investigated. This study aimed to investigate how chronic inflammation is associated with age-related hearing loss (ARHL). Methods: Twenty ARHL patients aged ≥65 years were prospectively enrolled from July 1 to 31 December 2015. Audiological tests and serological tests, such as C-reactive protein (CRP), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), immunoglobulin G (IgG), interleukin 6 (IL-6), white blood cell (WBC) counts, neutrophil counts, lymphocyte counts, and platelet counts, were performed.
