Ammonia emissions are both an environmental and health issue. Biological preparations (also known as biopreparations) have attracted interests as a tool to reduce ammonia emissions from livestock. However, little is known about their effectiveness in modulating evaporating NH3 from manure. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of one biopreparation product (MycroZyme© Micron Bio-Systems Ltd., Bridgwater, UK) by studying the dynamics of NH3 gas evolution, taking into account factors such as manure storage time (fresh or stored) and the application method (sprayed or mixed).
