The article investigates the German scholars’ opinions on the functional-semantic category of aspectuality and its basic concepts in German language. The author describes the way the category of aspectuality is treated in linguistics, distinguishing basic components of this category: aspect and the mode of action. It also demonstrates the influence of Slavic studies research of aspectuality issue on German scholars’ theories of aspectuality in German language. This study reveals the rich spectrum of concepts on modes of action classification possibilities in German language and some of them are highlighted
