The Effect of Using Picture Series on the Students’ Ability in Writing Descriptive Text at Eighth Grade of MTsN 1 Aceh Tenggara

The objective of this research was to determine whether there was an effect of using picture series on the students' ability in writing descriptive text at VIII of MTsN 1 Aceh Tenggara in the academic year 2022/2023. The method used is quantitative, with the type of research that is pre-experimental research design. This research was conducted at of MTsN 1 Aceh Tenggara, Kutacane, Aceh Tenggara. The population and sample in this study were eighth graders in the first semester at the academy in 2022/2023 with consisted 24 students as a sample. The research data was obtained by giving a test about writing descriptive text to students. The research data were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics version 26 for Windows with Independent sample T-test. Based on the results of the data, it shows that there is a difference in writing ability between students who are taught by using picture series and those who are taught without treatment, where the results of the post-test score are higher by 60,29. It is also proven by the results of the t-test or tobserved being higher by 8.465 compared to ttable at a significance level of 0.05 with a degree of freedom (df) 23 of 1.674 (tobserved > ttable; 8.465 > 1.713). It means that the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected, and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect of using picture series on the students’ ability in writing descriptive texts at eighth of MTsN 1 Aceh Tenggara
