Some novel design structures of PM, axial flux, synchronous generators are presented, employing armature windings consisting of concentrated coils wounded around the stator teeth; the voltage control is based on the variation of the windings flux linkage, obtained by modifying the stator (or rotor) double sided configuration. Thanks to the high number of poles and the excellent waveform quality, this kind of machine is well suited for hydro or wind generators. In the paper, the main constructive machine features are discussed, together with some design and FEM results
