The article analyses the intertextual references of the opera's libretto by Grete Weil to Catullus's «Liber», Alexandre Dumas's novel «La dame aux camélias», and Jean Genet's novel «Notre-Dame-des-Fleurs». The opera is placed in relation to Alban Berg's opera «Lulu», Billy Wilder's film «Sunset Boulevard», and Henri-Georges Clouzot's film «Manon». The concealed presence of the theme of homosexuality in the text is highlighted
