Background: Neonate-onset encephalopathy has a wide range of clinical presentations. Premature or late birth (defined as occurring before or after 35 weeks of gestation) and early-onset neurological impairments are linked to this condition. The patient may have a loss of consciousness, convulsions, difficulty breathing, delayed or halted respiration, slowed or stopped reflexes, and depressed tone.
