Isoniazid is one of the effective components of a set of drugs used to treat tuberculosis. Recently, however, it was found that some bacterial strains of tuberculosis have showed resistance against it. Research studies are now being carried out to modify the isoniazid drug to make it more effective against resistant strains of the bacteria by incorporating it as pharmacophore in different molecules.
