In dieser Arbeit wurden neue Methoden zur mikrostrukturellen Beschreibung pulvermetallurgisch hergestellter hochlegierter Werkzeugstähle entwickelt und implementiert. Diese zielen auf die zahlenmäßig messbare Beschreibung der morphologischen Eigenschaften von Karbiden ab. Die vorgestellten Ansätze basieren auf physikalischen Deskriptoren, die so ein Verständnis der Mikrostrukturbildung unter Berücksichtigung der zugrunde liegenden stochastischen Mechanismen fördern. Die entwickelten Techniken wurden angewandt, um die Auswirkungen der Prozessvariablen des heißisostatischen Pressens auf Karbidgröße, -form und -anordnung des Schnellarbeitsstahls PM HS 3-3-4 zu untersuchen.
