The conceptions about evaluation that university professors who carry out mathematics chairs have, are relevant, taking into account the current models and the reality that is glimpsed in the teaching practice. It is not surprising that, in light of reality, we find teachers who adhere to the traditional system, which is characterized precisely by putting evaluation before learning. The topic that is addressed demands an important effort to establish variables that involve the conception of evaluation, such as the concept, object, objective, participants, instruments and activities. In this aspect, the university professor must be aware of the relevance that mathematics has in the integral formation of its students, for which the evaluations considered must be established considering the particularity of the subject in contrast to the others, and following the guidelines that They are established based on the current requirements in the field of evaluations. Then, the concept of evaluation that mathematics teachers must handle must become a renovating mechanism in the implications of the process that involves teaching and learning, which takes place in the university environment, tending to improve student learning.Las concepciones sobre evaluación que poseen los docentes universitarios que llevan adelante cátedras de matemática, resulta relevante, atendiendo los modelos vigentes y la realidad que se vislumbra en la práctica docente. No es de extrañar que, a la luz de realidad nos encontremos con docentes que se apegan al sistema tradicional, que se caracteriza precisamente por anteponer la evaluación al aprendizaje. El tema que se aborda demanda un esfuerzo importante para establecer variables que involucran la concepción de evaluación, tales como el concepto, objeto, objetivo, participantes, instrumentos y actividades. En este aspecto, el docente universitario debe estar consciente de la relevancia que posee la matemática en la formación integral de sus estudiantes, por lo que las evaluaciones consideradas deben establecerse considerando la particularidad de la asignatura en contraste a las demás, y siguiendo los lineamientos que se establecen a partir de los requerimientos actuales en el ámbito de las evaluaciones. Entonces, el concepto de evaluación que deben manejar los docentes de matemática, debe constituirse en un mecanismo renovador en las implicancias del proceso que involucra la enseñanza y el aprendizaje, que se desarrolla en el ámbito universitario, tendiente a mejor el aprendizaje de los estudiantes
