This paper presents a method useful to generate a measurement of supercomputers performance. This method is based on the implementation of a non-parametric technique, e.g. Data Envelopment Analysis. In particular, it uses different formulations of the cross-efficiency concept to calculate a comprehensive efficiency index to rank supercomputers. The method is adopted to perform a benchmarking study of sample that includes 77 supercomputers utilized to solve complex problems in research applications
