To Examine the Effects of Flipped Classroom Strategy on the Academic Performance of High-Achievers and Low-Achievers

The major purpose of the study was to examine the effects of flip classroom strategy on the academic performance of the students of sociology in Attock district. Following were the objectives of the study: (i) to determine whether the Flipped Classroom Strategy is more effective than traditional methods of teaching with respect to academic performance of students in sociology subject, (ii) to examine the effects of Flipped Classroom Strategy on the academic performance of high-achievers, (iii) to examine the effects of Flipped Classroom Strategy on the academic performance of low-achievers. The null hypotheses of the study were designed to test the objectives as (i) Academic performance of students in sociology subject is not significantly influenced by Flipped Classroom Strategy, (ii) The high-achievers’ academic performance is not significantly influenced by Flipped Classroom Strategy, (iii) The low-achievers’ academic performance is not significantly influenced by Flipped Classroom Strategy. Experimental research design was used. Therefore, the pre-test post-test equivalent group experimental research design was used for data collection. All the students studying in 1st year class in Government and private colleges of district Attock were the population of the study. There were total 3512 students in all Government and private colleges of Attock district in 1st year class. Accessible and target population of study were all students of 1st year class in the academic session 2019-20 selected college for experiment. Forty students of 1st year class in sociology from Govt, Degree College Women Attock were taken as a sample of the study. Then on the basis of pre-test they were equated and distributed into two groups. Each group was comprised of 20 students. The collected data was analyzed by applying t-test by using SPSS at 0.05 significant level. The study concluded that teaching through flipped classroom strategy had increased the academic performance of the students either these were high achievers or low achievers. It is therefore recommended that management of the institution should make arrangement to teach all the students through flipped learning technique for increasing their academic performance
