Penggunaan Synthetic Polymer Untuk Optimasi Sweep Efficiency Pada Proses Enhanced Oil Recovery

The decline in oil recovery in the oil and gas field is a problem that must be faced now and in the future along with the increasing demand for petroleum energy. Several factors that cause a decrease in oil recovery are factors in the mature field with a reservoir containing heavy oil which makes it difficult for oil to flow. In addition, most of the reservoirs in the oil and gas field contain water, so that more water is produced than oil production. In previous studies, hydrolized polyacrylamides (HPAM) polymers were used. However, this type of polymer is not able to work in rough reservoir conditions, high temperatures and high pressures. The purpose of this research is to optimize Sweep Efficiency in the Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) process by injecting polymer. The material used in this research is Synthetic Polymer in the form of Cationic Polymer. This research uses the Laboratory Experiment method by conducting characterization, rheology and core flooding tests. From the test results obtained cationic polymer has a regular morphology like a film. And also the absence of coagulation at temperatures of 50°C, 60°C and 70°C. While in the viscosity test, the viscosity value increases along with the increase in polymer concentration. The 3000 ppm polymer has the highest viscosity value of 2,495 cP. However, there was an insignificant decrease in viscosity along with the increase in the value of salinity, thermal and shear rate
