Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) is a group of rare, heterogeneous diseases affecting connective tissue. The main clinical signs of EDS are skin hyperextensibility, joint hypermobility, and skin fragility. Currently, the classification of EDS in humans distinguishes 13 clinical subtypes associated with mutations in 19 different genes, reflecting the heterogeneity of this group of diseases. Clinical descriptions of connective tissue diseases resembling human EDS have been reported in horses, cats, dogs, rabbits, sheep, cattle, and mink.
