Les manuscrits juridiques enluminés du Midi de la France au XIVe siècle : deux nouveaux exemplaires retrouvés en Espagne

Juridical illuminated manuscripts of the South of France in the XIVth century : two new examples discovered in Spain. For the last eight years, the production of illuminated juridical manuscripts between the XIIIth and XIVth centuries has been brought to light in the history of the illuminated manuscripts of the south of France. In a significant and typical way, this production is in fact influenced, between the XIIIth and XIVth centuries, by the linear gothic from the north of France, open to diverse stylistic currents, from the Italian peninsula, from Catalonia, and also from central Europe, as well as showing clear originality. Very recently, we have found two new pieces for evidence of this production. Up to now, these have not been the object of in-depth study. They bring us a number of new insights regarding the work of the Master of the Missal of Augier de Cogeux and of the Master of the Pontifical of Pierre de Saint Martial. This matter involves the manuscripts from the library of the Escorial ms ç 1.1 and the National Historical Archives in Madrid, Codices L.7. These are the manuscripts which are presented in this article.Depuis huit ans la production de manuscrits juridiques enluminés entre le XIIIe et le XIVe siècle a été bien mise en lumière dans l’histoire de l’enluminure du Midi de la France. De manière significative et typique, cette production est en effet influencée, entre le XIIIe et le XIVe siècle, par le gothique linéaire du nord de la France, ouverte à des courants stylistiques diversifiés, venus de la Péninsule italienne, de la Catalogne, mais aussi de l’Europe centrale, et elle montre une évidente originalité. Très récemment nous avons repéré deux nouveaux témoins de cette production, qui n’ont fait jusqu’ici l’objet d’aucune étude approfondie et qui nous apportent quelques nouveautés sur l’œuvre du Maître du Missel d’Augier de Cogeux et du Maître du Pontifical de Pierre de Saint-Martial. Il s’agit des manuscrits Bibliothèque de l’Escorial ms ç I. 1 et Archives historiques nationales de Madrid, Códices L.7.
