Jacques Paul, The dispossession of the Saint-Gilles family The bull Quantum Ecclesia laboraverit of Innocent III sets out in juridical form the dispossession of the Saint-Gilles family decided by the Fourth Lateran Council. It mirrors exactly the Albigensian Crusade : an affair of peace and of faith. Having contravened both, the Count of Toulouse was recognised as guilty under both heads of accusation ; both entailed the confiscation of goods. The grounds in relation to peace were the use of mercenaries. They differ from what had been retained in the letters of Innocent III in 1207 and 1209.
