Nepal possesses extreme variations in altitude, topography, climatic conditions, sociocultural composition and farming practices that have evolved immense diversity in natural flora and fauna as well as cultivated crop species. Nepal Agricultural Research Council has been regularly collecting the crop genetic resources since 1986. The provision for access and benefit sharing mechanism within Nepal is yet to be implemented and it is in the process of being a legal document.
